Building ventures that actually work

We started mexarovien in 2018 because we'd seen too many promising ideas fade out. Not from lack of potential, but because the path from concept to functioning business is messy and uncertain.

Our team came together from different backgrounds. Some had launched products that didn't make it. Others had worked inside companies that grew too fast without the right infrastructure. What we shared was a belief that there's a better way to build.

We work with founders who have vision but need experience to navigate the practical challenges. Our approach combines strategic thinking with hands-on involvement, focusing on what actually moves a business forward rather than what sounds impressive on paper.

What drives our work

These aren't just principles we list on our website. They shape how we choose projects, how we interact with founders, and how we measure progress.

Honest assessment

We tell founders what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. Sometimes that means pointing out flaws in a business model. Sometimes it means encouraging them to move faster than feels comfortable. The goal is always clarity.

Operational focus

Strategy matters, but execution matters more. We spend time on the details that determine whether a venture succeeds — hiring decisions, product iterations, customer conversations, financial management. The work that doesn't make headlines but builds foundations.

Shared outcomes

Our success is tied to the ventures we support. We structure partnerships where incentives align, which means we're selective about who we work with. When a venture grows, we benefit. When it struggles, we adjust together.

How we've evolved since 2018

Looking back, our approach has changed as we've learned what actually helps ventures succeed. Here's how we got to where we are now.

1

2018 — Finding our footing

Started with three ventures in Perth, focusing mainly on tech products. We thought strategic advice was enough. Turns out, founders needed much more hands-on support with hiring, pricing, and operational decisions. That first year taught us to get involved earlier and stay engaged longer.

2020 — Expanding our methods

Brought in specialists who could work alongside founders on specific challenges. Financial modeling, product development, customer acquisition. We built a network of people who'd been through the early-stage grind and could share practical knowledge. This year also pushed us to work remotely more effectively, which opened up possibilities we hadn't considered.

2023 — Refining what works

By this point, we had patterns we could rely on. Certain approaches consistently helped ventures find traction. We formalized our engagement model, making it clearer what founders could expect. We also started saying no more often, focusing only on ventures where we genuinely believed we could make a difference.
